Yesterday, I attended the Get Motivated Business Seminar that rolled into the downtown Convention Center. As I sat in a packed room with a couple thousand other like minded individuals, I was struck by how effective the machine was.
Presenter after presenter took the stage to share words of encouragement and inspiration. Some used energy. most used humor. There was a dance contest, complete with beach balls. Willie Jolley even sang. And while I soaked it all it, I developed a deep appreciation for the hustle of every single individual who took the stage.
Then it hit me: I was becoming an expert in HustleNometry; The Science and Art of Hustling.
See, the word "Hustling" has gotten a bad rap. To far too many people it is synonymous with street life and illegal activities. But the truth is, hustling is a mentality. A mindset that you will do what needs to be done to accomplish a greater goal. Hustling is the means by which the ends are achieved.
Each individual who took the stage, starting with the MC for the day's events, and ending with the headliner, Les Brown, not only inspired the room, but also made a pitch for their wares. Some simply made mention of the books they had written and offered a call to action that would help them to build their list ("The money is in the list").
Others offered full seminars and/or access to online resources that attendees could purchase for a "discounted price". Their presentations were equal parts motivation and sales pitch. And I didn't begrudge them one bit. In fact, I learned as much watching the machine operate as I did listening to their words.
You see, a hustler NEVER misses an opportunity. NEVER.
A hustler NEVER misses an opportunity to build a relationship.
A hustler NEVER misses an opportunity to solve a problem.
A hustler NEVER misses an opportunity to expand their brand.
One of the presenters, Omar Periu shared his 6 Foot Rule: "You should always make it a point to speak to anyone within 6 feet of you about what you do."
As you progress on your entrepreneurship journey, you MUST make it a point to study the tactics, mindsets and habits of other hustlers.
In order to truly develop as an Entrepreneur, make it a point to become an expert in HustleNometry.
